Trelew is located in the Atlantic region of Argentine Patagonia,
within Chubut province. It is 1436 km. from Buenos Aires along
national route 3, the main land access which links the country
from North to South.
The town lies in the Lower Valley of the Chubut River, on the
North riverbank specifically, and in the Valdes Peninsula-Punta
Tombo area, such is the name given to the district comprising
these two world-renowned popular tourist attractions, on account
of the great homogeneity regarding tourism it has achieved.

The city is at a point where routes leading to the cordillera
as well as to the Valdes Peninsula-Punta Tombo area converge,
giving direct access to all the attractions of the Atlantic
