Trelew´s news - Events Chubut Eisteddfod An event which features competitions in the fields of Literature, Arts, Crafts, Photography, Graphic Design, Music, Recitation, Dances and Choral Singing, aiming at keeping this Welsh tradition alive. The main contests are Welsh poetry writing, whose winner is awarded the bard’s chair; Spanish poetry writing, whose winner gets the "Eisteddfod’s Crown"; and the mixed choir competition. International Choir Competition A biannual cultural event that draws local and foreign choirs. It seeks to promote the choral tradition in the area and fosters people¹s integration as well as the town¹s culture and tourism. Livestock show and Sheep Fair Sheep of different breeds are exhibited, and agro-industrial and commercial stands are displayed. The jury¹s work, prize-giving ceremony, cattle parade and the auction stand out. The provincial shearing contest takes place as well, an event which grants producers an opportunity for updating and sharing. Expo Trelew A commercial, cultural and industrial show which reflects our town¹s development. It gathers people from the industrial and commercial sectors with the consumers. There are conferences, craft and farm exhibitions as well as different shows. Penguin’s Festivity Various educational, cultural and sport activities are carried out, aiming at advertising and promoting the tourism of the Magellan Penguin and Punta Tombo Protected Natural Reserve. Their importance to the town development is highlighted. The Town’s Anniversary Varied activities commemorating the town¹s anniversary take place during October, including Art exhibitions, sporting events and shows. This celebration reaches its climax with the election of the "queen" of Trelew. Sport Competitions The Mar y Valle circuit is the venue for competitions of renowned national racing categories ("Turismo Carretera" and "TC 3 litros"). Sport is also represented at championships, many of which make up the national calendar in varied categories and sports including football, basketball and hockey among others.
